It is something like 95 degrees outside right now with a heat index of 106.  And I'm at my desk with a sweater on because the AC is freezing!  Go figure, huh?

I don't think this is the hottest summer on record for Indiana yet but we have to be close.  I can't remember the last time we had so many days in the 90s and so many heat advisories.  Still it could be worse - I could live in Texas with Mom & Dad where the temps are in the 100s (before the heat index is tacked on).

I am (im)patiently waiting for rain to return to the state.  I conserve water only regularly (every few days) watering the non-drought resistant plants and veggies in my garden.  If plants had voices they'd be crying out for water about now.  So, yeah, I'm ready for the storms now please, nothing severe just lots of rain, thx.

On brother-in-law news J- is out of LTAC and in rehab.  The trache is long gone as are the catheters and by now the feeding tube.  I think the last thing is the PICC line, which they are keeping in for the time being as it makes it easy to give him meds.  He is eating regular meals, getting around in a wheelchair and/or walker and doing daily PT and OT.  He even has a shower in his room and was showered and dressed in regular clothes when Sissy went to see him.  He is doing so well, really working with his doctors and therapists, doing what he is told, sticking to his diet for his diabetes, etc.  We are all so proud of him.  Way to go, Mr. Man!  Love you!

In me news, well, there isn't much.  I love the new windows (haven't noticed any leaks yet!  YAY!).  Each night on the way home from the gym I spend 15 minutes doing my Italian lessons in the car.  I won't be anywhere near fluent when I go as it is only six weeks away but I should be able to get by.  Plus I'll have Dad and C- with me - he lived there for several years when he was in the service and cousin C has been there all summer so she should be way more comfortable with the language now.  I can't wait!  I'm starting to get the pre-trip jitters - usually manifesting as dreams where I'm trying to get on the plane for Italy and realize I left my passport at home.  Yikes!

I'm doing yoga once a week right now, or at least trying to.  Every Thursday at 5:15 Kimberley puts us through an hour of ashtanga yoga - I'm usually sweating within 5 minutes and absolutely dripping within 15.  Lots of Sun Salutations.  It kicks my ass but I love it.  So much that I usually repeat the practice on my own at home on Saturday morning!  As soon as I make going to this class a habit I'm going to consider adding the 20 minute Ab class on Wednesdays.  Who knew I would get this into going to the gym?

OK, a little more work then time to go to the gym.  I really want to get out and walk the canal but not until this heat breaks.  Later!
