New Glasses, Still Can't See
Dec. 10th, 2010 03:33 pmI picked up my new glasses Wednesday. Progressive lenses as I am over 40 and a cliche. The frames are cute, cute, cute! But I still can't see. The right eye is great - everything seems to be lining up OK and other that not being able to consistently find the sweet spot for reading I'm pretty much adapting nicely. The left eye not so much. Either the Rx is off or the placement is because everything is blurry. Put the two eyes together and I have more "swim" and distortion than I think I should, making it hard to adjust.
The first evening I wore them after having my old glasses on all day. Ouch. Triggered a migraine in the middle of the night. I've had the new ones on for two days now and I can tell I'm adapting so I don't think I'll have problems with progressive lenses per se. But they just feel a bit "off" and I want that fixed. I don't want visual distortion to become normal, you know?
So I'm leaving now to head back to the optometrist for the third time in two weeks. Hopefully we'll either get the adjustment correct or find that the Rx is wrong and get new lenses ordered (the left lens in the new sunglasses has the same problem!). Wish me luck!
