I had my follow-up diagnostic, which consisted of three more pictures of my left breast at far more compression than they did for my regular screening.  First one was uncomfortable, second hurt, third hurt like a son of a bitch.  The good news is that the "something" they saw on my original film wasn't there today so I didn't have to get an ultrasound or a biopsy.  I do have to go back in 6 months for another set of pictures - because the "something" wasn't there.  The general consensus is that it was fluid but protocol is to come back in 6 months just in case it wasn't fluid and whatever it is was just being camera shy today.  They will send both my doctor and I reminders in 6 months.  In the meantime I've a clean bill of health and a sore boob.  But I'd rather that than the alternative, yeah?

In other news I lost 1/2 a pound this past week.  That makes 2.5 pounds in two weeks.  I would have loved to have lost another 2 this week but let's face it, last week's numbers were likely in part to the stomach flu and I really don't want to repeat that experience even for weight loss.  I'm happy with the half-a-pound.  It also means I have another 2.5 pounds to lose in the next 4 weeks to meet my short-term goal of 5 in 6 (5 pounds in 6 weeks).  My long term goal is 60 pounds (now 57.5), which is scary and daunting and just seems totally impossible when looked at as a whole.  So I'm making small, six week goals as those are not scary or daunting and I am entirely capable of achieving them.  Baby steps.  The Wellness program at work is a big help as I'm getting recipes and exercise plans to follow and/or incorporate into what I'm already doing.

Tomorrow morning I get up early - well, early for me on a Saturday - and take my Prius in for the brake fix.  Thirty minutes to flash the computer with the fix and the rest of the day is mine.  The temperature is supposed to drop a bit and we have rain in the forecast so I will likely not get around to cleaning up the yard this weekend.  I will get the inside of the house clean, including mopping the floors, which is a task I loathe.  But they need them and it is good exercise.

And I'm considering joining a second gym.  The gym I belong to is downtown and has a satellite facility in my office building.  It makes it very convenient M-F as long as I don't have to work late.  They close at 7:30 but start going through cleaning and shutting things down about 10 after.  Twice now I've had to cut short my workout because they were starting the closing process.  I can't always control how late I have to work and a ten hour day at my desk isn't unusual.  It would be nice to have someplace else to go (other than the main gym on campus where there is no parking) on those nights I work late as well as on weekends.  Take today.  I had to leave work at 2:00 for my mammogram.  By 3:30 I was done.  Friday is normally a workout day for me but since I didn't want to drive back downtown I went and did my grocery shopping instead.  I'll do my squats, crunches and free weights once I'm done posting here but it isn't really the same as being at the gym with the elliptical and the treadmill.  Sure, I could buy an elliptical of my own so I could work out in the privacy of my own home.  But what if it breaks?  That's one of the things I like about the gym - while I'm not keen on working out in front of strangers I love the fact that fixing and maintaining the equipment is someone else's job.  So I'm going to do some research on the places nearby and maybe join the YMCA or one of the other gyms (there are something like 3 or 4 within 10 minutes of my house) to fill in the gap as it were.

So now I'm going to do a mini workout, shower, and then kick back with a book for a while.  Have a good weekend!
